GIRLS SELECTED FOR CONNACHT TRIALS

Well done to some of our young girls stars who have been selected for the Connacht trials at under 16 and under 18 level on march 6th at the regional emerging talent centre in castlebar. At under 16 level Emma Hansberry and Lauren Boles are selected for trials. Irish international player Bronagh Kerins has been selected for trails at under 18 level. We wish all the girls the best of luck at the trials.

Our senior team ran out comprehensive winners in the super league fixture on Sunday morning last at a bitterly cold Strandhill community park.

FOUR COACHES RECEIVE KICK START I QUALIFICATION

Well done to all our new coaches who attended the Kick Start I course last weekend. Our participants were Roger Murray, Ryan McEnroe, Paul Higgins and Michael Shovlin. It is very important for the club to have all our coaches educated to a minimum of Kick Start I level. Further kick start I courses are available on 7th and 8th of May and on the 17th and 18th of September. Any of our existing coaches not qualified are encouraged to attend the course and should contact the clubs Director of Coaching, Maurice Monaghan, on 087 946 7167.

The opening game in the girls under 12 game was held at Strandhill community park on Saturday morning last. In a competitive outing our girls ran out comfortable winners in the end but not without a serious challenge from a strong Ballymote Celtic side.

Our girls under 18 side had a good win away to title rivals Dromore villa on Saturday morning last. With team managers AJ Cogan and Paddy Norman on the FAI Youth Certificate programme it was left to our girls soccer stalwart, Finola Monaghan to step into the breach. Finola ensured the girls stayed on the road to the title with a solid but challenging victory over a team who have tested our girls teams regularly

Our girls futsal side will be in action against Calry Bohemians and Saint Johns on Saturday morning next starting at 12:30. Our coaches are Ailsing Osborne and Brenda McCallion and we swish the girls well in this exciting and fast paced game.

Our under 14 green team drew their latest fixture in a game they could and probably should have won on Saturday afternoon last at an ice cold Strandhill community park. On the day we fell behind against the run of play early on but recovered well to dominate the early stages.

Strand Celtic have announced a great new fund raiser called PICK A WINNER. Simply pick two teams each week from the premiership and after ten weeks if you are top of the table you can win €500.
