We will have another first for the club with the establishment of a girls under 18 team for the first time. The girls will enter the new sligo leitrim under 18 schoolgirls league.

As part of the clubs ongoing coach education programme we will have five coaches on the Kick Start I coaching course next weekend. Those coaches confirmed on the course in Sligo are Roger Murray, Ryan McEnroe, Nigel Morahan, Paul Higgins and Michael Shovlin. Further kick start I courses are available on 7th and 8th of May and on the 17th and 18th of September.

The Sligo Leitrim under 14 side were unlucky to go down by a solitary goal against Donegal in milford on Saturday afternoon last.

The Connacht FA is establishing a Connacht youth league for some of the provinces top sides. Strand Celtic is very grateful to be one of those clubs and also to Dessie Cawley for taking on the management position. Dessie has done tireless work with our under 16 and under 18 squads this season and his enthusiasm and coaching nous is a great assert to the club.

Strand Celtic have started a goalkeeping academy for all  the young potential Shay Givens out there. The academy will start on Friday Feburary 12th between 6pm and 8pm.

The academy is open to boys and girls.

Our girls under 10 futsal side turned in another great performance in SLigo IT on saturday morning last. The girls were great with Katie Eaton and Eimear McCallion turning in good displays.

Our under 14 squad who are travelling to holland in aprilnext year have announced their tour details. All the details are now on our website under 'Tours' section on our website. The team will play in the Holland Easter Classic that is one of hollands major football tournaments. They will stay at the famous De Eemhof centreparc.

Emma Hansberry won her first Irish cap today when she played for the Irish U16 team in Belfast against a Northern Ireland U17 team. Everyone at the club is delighted with Emmas achievement as she has been a fanstatic player and person over the last number of years..

Our Nippers Academy, Colts Academy and Soccer Sisters will take a break for the bank holiday weekend to give parents and coaches a rest !. There was a great turnout on Saturday afternoon last with over 130 kids training on Saturday afternoon last. We will return to training on Saturday afternoon 31st October at 2pm in the recently re-opened strandhill community park. We have been blessed with the weather recently so hopefully this will continue.

All roads led to croke park for the Ireland v Italy game on Saturday night. Our under 12 squad were fortunate enough to win the draw for twenty tickets for the game from the SLigo-Leitrim league.
