Strand Celtic are holding an Information Evening in the clubhouse on thursday night next at 8:30pm. The purpose of the evening is to inform all our parents and members of all the work undertaken in the club and our future plans including the provision of a playground.

Sincere thanks to all those who purchsed tickets for our christmas draw, sponsored prizes or sold tickets. This is a very important fund riaser for our club each year and is greatly appreciated int he current climate.

The club had its annual trip from Santa Claus on Saturday afternoon 19th of December with the colts at strandhill community park at 2pm. A fantastic day was had by all. Santa arrived, courtesy of the air sea rescue helicopter, for his annual visit.

There is another new initiative on a Wednesday night called the soccer moms . There are no excuses any more for all the moms of the kids. On Wednesday nights at our new Astroturf facility there is a fun game for all the soccer moms from 9 to 10.

Our under 14 squad who are travelling to holland in aprilnext year have announced their tour details. All the details are now on our website under 'Tours' section on our website. The team will play in the Holland Easter Classic that is one of hollands major football tournaments. They will stay at the famous De Eemhof centreparc.

Our annual Christmas drink for all coaches, committee members, players and parents is on Saturday 12th December in the Strand Bar after 9:30pm. This is just a social evening with a few drinks and a good opportunity to chat through the good and bad moments of the previous year. It is a great opportunity to mix with people and is open to all including partners so why not come along.

Our family fun day was a great success, despite the awful weather. A great crowd turned out for the day with Packie Bonner the star attraction for the event that doubled up with the official opening of the park.

Strandhill Community Park

Strand Celtic Under 14s claimed the inagural north west cup with victory over a strong Cliffoney-Grange side in a rainswept Strandhill Community park on saturday afternoon last. Captain Jamie Gillen was also named player of the tournament by the tournament referees. The squad played five games to win the tournament with teams from Leitrim, Sligo, Roscommon and Mayo.

There is an exciting schedule of events for this weekend with our golf classic and community night on friday night, north west cup football tournament for under 14 teams including sligo, mayo, roscommon and leitrim and our family fun day and official opening of the park on sunday.
