UNDER 12 DEVT LEAGUE : STRAND CELTIC 3 BALLISODARE 4
Strandhill Community Park

Our under 12 development squad fell just short when going down by four goals to three in a seven goal thriller on Saturday morning last.

Despite falling behind by four goals to nil our lads battled back really well and if the game was to last for another five minutes they would undoubtedly have got an equalizer.

The early stages were evene with both sides creating chances but Ballisodare grabbed the lead when the lively Ryan Phillips grabbed the lead. This was quickly followed by two good finishes from Mark Hannon. Despite this strand keeper, Jack Burke, had a superb first half with some great handling and brave stops.

The second half saw strand press the ballisodare goal with the pacey cillian egan and cian bree causing problems. Despite this Ballisodare extended their lead when Brian Mahon fired home a fourth from close range. Although at this stage it looked as if the game was over strand battled hard and Cillian Egan scored with fifteen minutes to go. Minutes later it was four goals to two when a Jack Gilligan corner went straight to the net. Jack Gilligan had a great game and really burst forward on several occasions. With Shay Doherty and Shane McCallion breaking the third goal came when Cillian Egan slipped home a third. Despite extensive pressure strand could not break through and the closest they came was when a Shay Doherty drive was just over.

This was a great game with both sides playing good, honest football and was a credit to both management teams and players.
