UNDER 18 GIRLS WIN HIGH SCORING SEMI-FINAL

GIRLS UNDER 18 SEMI-FINAL: STRAND CELTIC 5 BALLYMOTE CELTIC 3
Strandhill Community Park

Our girls under 18 turned in a barnstorming first half performance on Saturday evening last to get victory over a very well drilled Ballymote Celtic.

They turned over with a four goals to win lead and needed every goal as Ballymote Celtic exerted huge pressure in the final third of the game. Having turned over four goals to one up and having added to the total to put four goals between the teams it looked game over.

Ballymote had other ideas and fought back well to get back to leave two goals between the sides. Strand had Grace Cadden to thank for some very timely interventions in the closing stages that brought the girls through to the final. Goalscorers for Strand were Lauren Boles with a hat trick and Emma Hensberry with a brace. The girls are to be congratulated as they rushed back from Connacht squad trials in Castlebar earlier in the day to make it back for the cup semi-final. Everyone hopes that the girls can go forward now and win the final.
