UNDER 14 CONTINUE MARCH TO SEMI-FINALS

UNDER 14 BOYS LEAGUE: STRAND CELTIC 5 BOYLE CELTIC 0
Strandhill Comunity Park

Our under 14 side continued their march to the division one semi finals with a comprehensive victory over a gallant Boyle Celtic B team on Saturday afternoon last.

Boyle put up stiff resistance in the first half and indeed only turned over two goals down. Strand started somewhat patchy and struggled to find their recent fluid form. A few early chances went begging and that final pass was letting the home side down as they got in behind the Boyle defence. Finally after fifteen minutes Kealan McCabe finished well after being put clear by Mark McCallion. Kealan McCabe grabbed another after twenty five minutes when firing home from close range after an excellent save by the Boyle keeper. Cian McGovern was causing Boyle all sorts of trouble on the left as he regularly tore down the left flank and delivered some pacy crosses for the Strand strike force.

The second half was less even as Strand dominated despite the best efforts of a hard working Boyle backline and an impressive goalkeeper. Kealan McCabe added his third to grab a hat trick. Jamie Gillen fired one home from the edge of the box and Ronan McCormack advanced from the centre back position to absolutely rifle two unstoppable efforts into the net. It ended with eight goals as Luke Nicolson also grabbed a brace.

All in all this was a good three points for Strand who were also without their leading goalscorer Carols Casciallana due to illness.
