UNDER 12: STRAND CELTIC GREEN 1 STRAND CELTIC HOOPS 1
Strandhill Comunity Park

Only the second ever under age derby took place in strandhill community park on Saturday last with the clash of our two under age development sides ending all square.

Both teams have acquitted themselves well this season with some great performances. The Green side have become the draw specialists having drawn five games so far this season. Indeed in their last game against league leaders Ballisodare United they came back from four goals to three down to equalize with the last kick of the game. Manager Eammon Kielty with his coaches Brendan Crowne and Adrian Burke have developed this young team well

Honours were shared on Saturday last. Goalscorer for the greens was Brian Kielty with a great lob over the goalkeeper while the Hoops goal came courtesy of young striker Daniel Doherty who smashed home a shot after a period of sustained pressure.

On the day these were two evely matched teams. For the Greens Sean Callaghan and James Coggins were masterful in the defence. For the hoops Jack Burke, one fo the clubs most outstanding goalkeepers, turned one shot spectacularly on to the bar. Ewan Heaps also worked tirelessly throughout.

All in all a fair result, honours even and the managers can finally talk to each other again. Well done to all and the large number of parents who turned up on Saturday.
