UNDER 12 DEVT LEAGUE: STRAND CELTIC 4 BALLISODARE UTD 4
Strandhill Community Park

The Strand Celtic draw specialists managed a great draw against league leaders Ballisodare Utd last Saturday in a game played in Strandhill.

Conor Burke opened the scoring following a great cross by James Coggins. James was to prove to be a thorn in the Ballisodare side all game. A mix up in defence allowed Ballisodare to equalise and they then went on to get two further goals from crosses which caused panic.

At half time a number of substitutions were made for both sides, but this helped the game. Ben Hamilton ,just on, and in his first game out the field followed up a lost ball and smashed it to the net. 2-3. There followed much pressure from the greens to no avail. Then Ballisodare on a rare break got another goal. All seemed lost but the greens fought back.

Philip Hamilton pounced on a ball and stuck it in the net. 3-4 and it was all one way traffic. Donagh Crowne and Eoin Macken tried their hardest to manufacture an equaliser. And then it came following a cleared corner, it broke to Daniel Henderson whose thunderbolt was blocked , Fergus Collins pounced and shot it high into the net. Three of the four subs used had scored. There was much joy as this was the last kick of the game and vindication for Manager Eamonn Kielty decision to put all on. Well done to all, for the great way they played and for not giving up.
