FAMILY FUN DAY AND OPENING A GREAT SUCCESS

Our family fun day was a great success, despite the awful weather. A great crowd turned out for the day with Packie Bonner the star attraction for the event that doubled up with the official opening of the park.

Well done to all involved and the organising committee from the club, tennis and trustees for all their hard work. Sincere thanks to everyone who helped on the day as there were too many to mention. The park is now a fine facility and it is great to see it nearly complete !. Unfortunately the bad weather in the lead in meant that the astropark could not be completed, but still everyone juggled around and made the most of the day. Also thanks to all the local papers who covered the event and helped to make it such a success.

Packie was fantastic and made a great impression on people of all ages. Some of the older mums were heard to say that he had the film star look to him as they swooned around him!. The big Donegal man stayed at the park for over four hours and the organising committee and club are extremely grateful to him for giving up his time to perform the opening.

There was a great carnival atmosphere despite the showers as everyone mixed in including local politicians, sponsors, committees, various other sporting organisations and members of the club. People were able to try their hands at tennis, variety of football skill drills, penalty kicks and a whole range of other events. The grounds were a credit to all and to the trustees who originally took the grounds into trust on behalf of the community.
