GIRLS UNDER 14 LEAGUE: BALLYMOTE  5    STRAND CELTIC  1
Ballymote

Ballymote prove too strong for Strand U14 girls this evening.  Scoring 5 goals, 4 of which were long range shots, Ballymote dominated the game for the most part.  Strand did improve their performance in the seconf half but was still not good enough on the night.

Strand Celtic started the game with Briana Coyne in goals, Siubheann Crowne & Beibhinn Morrissey the two full backs, Aoife Masterson and Nicole O'Boyle at the centre of defence.  They found themselves under pressure from the very start. Katie Monaghan, Claire Hanney, Shannon Dykes and Jade Kerrigan lines out at midfield, leaving Ellie McCole & Carla Kivlehan up front.  Emma Monaghan started on the bench but came on for Carla at half time.

Even though this was a strong line up Ballymote were always one step ahead during the whole of the game.  They scored 2 goals in the first half and started the second half with another quick goal.  Strand improved on their first half performance and replied with a fine goal from Claire Hanney.  However this was not enough and Ballymote came back with 2 more goals.

Hopefully the girls will learn from their defeat and try to work harder on their defence.  The next game is on Thursday 21st in Manorhamilton.
