Our under eight squad for the sligo-leitrim futsal tournament at Sligo IT will be selected on satruday afternoon next at colts training, weather permitting.

Our senior side came through a difficult super league game on Sunday morning last against a revitalised Aughanagh Celtic side. Aughanagh’s previous league form was left behind as they pushed the home side all the way to the end before strand celtic took all three points with two late goals.

Luke Nicolson grabbed a late winner in this under 12 preliminary league fixture at strandhill community park on Saturday morning last. In monsoon conditions our under 12 squad qualified for the premier division of the under twelve league with this victory finishing joint top of their group with Merville United.

Unfortunately the weather put paid to the planned development league fixtures for our under 12 sides on last Friday and Saturday.

Our under nine and under team squads played their first blitz of the season with fixtures against Merville, Ballisodare and Cliffoney-Grange on Sunday afternoon last. The blitz was played in sunny both cold conditions.

There was silent hush as the last draw was made in Bree’s bar on Thursday night last for the Strand Celtic 400 club draw. Top prize on the night went to James Glynn from ransboro.

Our under 16 squad had their game against City United postponed on Saturday afternoon last at strandhill community park.

Our annual Christmas bazaar will take place on Sunday December 7th at strandhill national school. As ever Santa Claus will be present along with a host of other famous cartoon characters on the day.

Our under 16 squad exited the FAI Under 16 cup to last years All Ireland finalists, Mervue United from Galway, on Saturday afternoon last at a sunny strandhill community park. A late goal put a slight gloss on the scoreline although our lads were always up against it over the ninety minutes.

Former Strand Celtic and Sligo Rovers player, John Lynch, was appointed as the manager of our senior team last week.
