Club Open Day

Each year Strand Celtic football club runs an open day for the community of Strandhill and Ransboro. The event was run as a non profit making venture and its objective was to provide a fun day for all the children and members in the club and to increase the awareness within the community about the club.

The event is run at the start of the season in either august or September each year.

In 2006 the Strand Celtic Open day was a great success. Over five hundred people were present on the day in the basking sunshine. There was plenty to do on the day with the kids well entertained and even a small television for all the Galway and Cork Hurling fans – Wasn’t Dessie Cosgrove happy with the result !.

There was a wide range of events for the children with everything from penalty king, mini-world cup, novelty races, bouncy castles, speed dribbling, hit the tyres.

With the closure of the club grounds for re-development of our pitches the club's open day was postponed in 2006 and 2007. It is hoped to re-activitate the open day in 2008 alongside the opening of our club grounds.
