Bookings are going well for our Celtic Easter camp with limited places remaining.

In addition there is a Kick Start II course on the 27th and 28th of March in Sligo.

Further kick start I courses are available on 7th and 8th of May and on the 17th and 18th of September. Any of our existing coaches not qualified are encouraged to attend the course and should contact the clubs Director of Coaching, Maurice Monaghan, on 087 946 7167.

Our new pick a winner competition started off last weekend. There are over 100 people entered in the competition and week one is off and running. Well done to organiser Paul Higgins and his fellow finance committee members Brian McDermott and Brian Redmond.

Strandhill Community Park

It was second time lucky for Strand Celtic green team as they played and beat a strong merville side in a friendly on Sunday afternoon last.

Plans are developing for the North West Cup in August 2010. Last years tournament was an outstanding success and great credit was due to tournament director, Marcus White, and his organising committee. The first meeting for the organising committee will be held on Thursday night at 10pm in the clubrooms. Anyone interested in getting involved in helping with the tournament can come along on Thursday night or contact Marcus.

As part of the clubs partnership programme with Glasgow Celtic the club will be hosting two evenings for coaches in April. There will be a one and a half hour coaching session only for Strand Celtic coaches on Tuesday April 6th. This is building on the successful coaching seminar from last summer.

Dromore West

Our under 14 white team came out on top of a seven goal thriller in Dromore west ons aturday afternoon last. This was another good win for Brian ‘Trappatoni’ Redmond. It leaves the under fourteen squad top of their table at this stage with one game to play. Dylan Doherty was star of the show with a double in a fine victory.

Well done to some of our young girls stars who have been selected for the Connacht trials at under 16 and under 18 level on march 6th at the regional emerging talent centre in castlebar. At under 16 level Emma Hansberry and Lauren Boles are selected for trials. Irish international player Bronagh Kerins has been selected for trails at under 18 level. We wish all the girls the best of luck at the trials.

Our senior team ran out comprehensive winners in the super league fixture on Sunday morning last at a bitterly cold Strandhill community park.

Well done to all our new coaches who attended the Kick Start I course last weekend. Our participants were Roger Murray, Ryan McEnroe, Paul Higgins and Michael Shovlin. It is very important for the club to have all our coaches educated to a minimum of Kick Start I level. The opening game in the girls under 12 game was held at Strandhill community park on Saturday morning last. In a competitive outing our girls ran out comfortable winners in the end but not without a serious challenge from a strong Ballymote Celtic side.
